Hi there, I'm Clara
Project manager. A parent. An expat based in Berlin, Germany.
Several years ago, I moved here with my family. What began as a short-term assignment gradually became a new chapter of life overseas.
How It Started
Moving to Germany wasn't part of our long-range plans. Like many expat relocations, it began as a job opportunity and soon grew into something far bigger.
The early months were demanding — unfamiliar systems, new routines, and rising expectations. Everyday tasks felt more intricate than they should.
The Adjustment Period
There was culture shock, doubt, and plenty of learning on the fly. Yet, over time, routines formed. We found places that suited us, connected with other families, and began building something that felt steady.
Why I Built FreshShoreCode
Most information online was either corporate-level relocation guidance or surface-level tourism content. What was missing was an honest, everyday family perspective.
This site aims to bridge that gap — practical guidance based on real life in Germany.
What This Site Is (And Isn't)
This site is:
- Hands-on experience from living in Germany
- Centered on family life and everyday realities
- Updated when a meaningful change occurs
This site isn't:
- A resource for tourism authorities
- A platform for sponsored reviews
- An ordinary travel blog
Moving forward
Our stay in Germany continues, and so does the learning journey. As long as the information remains helpful, I’ll continue documenting what we uncover.
If you have questions about family life in Berlin or anywhere in Germany, don't hesitate to contact us.
Best regards,
Clara
